First Fundraiser a Major Success, Raising Just Under $3,000 for FSMA

Danita Chisholm’s Raffle Fundraiser Goes Above and Beyond Expectations

Kalei ChisholmIn April, Danita Chisholm held her first fundraiser to help fight for the cure to SMA. She held a raffle called Kure4Kalei, and successfully raised $2,780! Her daughter Kalei has SMA Type 1.

Wanting to start on a smaller scale with the fundraiser, Danita made fliers with Kalei’s picture (shown left), and included some facts about her and the horrible disease. Everywhere she went, she carried the fliers and raffle tickets to inform her community about SMA. She found that the majority of people gave donations and did not care about the prize. She was amazed at the contribution amount and next time is thinking about doing it on a larger scale. Anything that helps us become one step closer to a cure is what she is willing to do in memory of Ke’aja and in honor of Kalei.
