Boston Marathon Runners Bring in Over $35,000 for FSMA

6 Boston Marathon Runners Support Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Boston Marathon Runners and FriendsThe New England chapter of FSMA was very fortunate this year. We had 5 terrific people running the Boston Marathon to help raise awareness and fundraise for FSMA. Together they raised about $25,500! Shown here is a picture of some of the New England Chapter kids and the dedicated runners at a special dinner held in their honor. The runners are Michael MacCormack (who ran in honor of Owen Norton), Mike Lucci (who you can read more about here, and who ran in honor of Zane Schmid), Rob Young (who ran in honor of William Johnson) and Jan De Weer (who ran in honor of Cianan & Cecilia Murphy). Not pictured is Stephen Buoniconti (who ran in honor of his daughter, Joanna Buoniconti).

In addition to these 5 chapter runners, FSMA was also lucky to be supported by James Dietz, who ran the Marathon as well. James ran in honor of Jack Kotheimer, both pictured below. He raised an additional $9,500 for FSMA!

The strength that these 6 runners have shown through this event is remarkable. Together, the runners have raised about $35,000! Families of SMA cannot describe the level of appreciation that we have. Thank you for running in support of our mission, and for helping to bring us one step closer to a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy!

I think it is absloutely wonderful so many people give so unselfishly of themselves to help others. Mike Lucci ran in honor or my granddaughter Zane and our entire family and group of friends greatly appreciate what he has done in helping to raise funds for FSMA and to raise the awareness of this terrible disease that takes oour little angels from our arms. Thank-you to all

Again, WOW, what an incredible group of individuals! I am a friend of the Schmid family and know how touched and appreciative they are of the people who have given their time & effort to fight this horrible disease. You should be applauded! Hopefully this effort will take us a step closer to a much needed cure!
