People Come Together to Exercise in Support of Finding a Treatment and a Cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, members and non-members alike from Gold’s Gym in Dover, DE came together in support of Families of SMA. Jessica Moyer, President of the Families of SMA – South Jersey/Delaware Chapter, hosted their first “Zumba Away SMA” event in hopes to raise funding and awareness for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The event was a great success raising over $2,500.
Jessica lost her son Steven when he was only 9 months old due to SMA, and continues to fundraise for SMA research in hopes it will lead to a treatment and a cure. Thanks to everyone that participated and sponsored this event, and to the Moyer Family who continues to support FSMA in their mission.

What an awesome way to raise money and awareness by using something that people love to do anyway.
I have been looking into getting Zumba certified and holding a fundraiser for SMA is another push in doing it. Could you let me know more details about how you did this? What you charged? What waivers/etc. had to be done? Thanks, Pennie
