Pool Tournament a Huge Success, Helping Raise Awareness for SMA, and Support for a Local Family

On April 3, STIX Billiards on St. Pete Beach hosted the Shockley Family & Families of SMA – Greater Florida 8 Ball Pool Tournament.  Friends of the Shockley family planned to host a fundraiser to raise money for Maia Shockley’s first power chair.  The Shockley Family agreed willingly but wanted awareness to be a focus as well.  So with the help of the Greater Florida Chapter, friends of the Shockley Family, and Maia’s parents, Lisa and Troy, the Pool Tournament fundraiser was a huge hit!  There were tons of raffle items given away and an incredible silent auction which included a driving experience with racecar driver Richard Petty.  The food was great, the competition fierce and the drink specials amazing!  The event raised close to $5,000 with 20% being donated to Families of SMA.
